Nov 15, S. This was funny and truly bizarre. The unemployed sociologist Eduardo Sosa becomes interested in a bum living in a yellow Chevrolet on the biale where Eduardo lives with his sister. After a night of sleazing around with the bum and a midget pimp, Eduardo Sosa and I can’t help hear the echo in that name of Gregor Samsa kills the bum and assumes his identity.
He moves into the Chevy, where he finds four poisonous and ready-to-roll snakes. Sex This was funny and truly bizarre. This takes place in El Salvador after the country’s civil war and I suppose it could be a political allegory, written vastellanos it is in a straightforward style. It could also be plain old absurdism, or, what with com snakes and the way Deputy Commissioner Handel keeps sticking his finger in his ear, it could be a plea for phallic dignity.
It was fun to read whatever it is – quick, action-packed hooracio skanky. You get the feeling Moya made the plot up as he went along. Feb 12, C. Strange, how a book can defy categorization, and slip between genres like a hungry ghost. The first few pages seem rather straight forward, but then this book diverges into unmapped territory. Bizarre, transitory, unapologetically violent, all of these are true.

A statement about violence and the media? Who knows, but ultimately, who cares.
It’s sparse prose is quite enjoyable, and its plot is weird enough to keep one reading. This book takes you on an insane romp through El Salvador with snakes that snort cocaine, jerk off a mentally unstable sociologist posing as a homeless man, and kill politicians, drug agents and narcos alike in a vengeful rampage. Oh, they also make a gas station explode.

In case you haven’t gotten the point by now, this book is insane. But in a totally good attention-grabbing way. I enjoyed this but I can’t say I loved it. It’s masterful but keeps the reader at an emotional distance.
